SPLIT SCUTE or OLD INJURY ????

I haven't seen a lot of split scutes up close, and I am leaning toward an old injury. What do you think?

i would say injury. i would think that if it were a split scute that the growth rings would be independent of each other on each scute. it seems that the pattern goes "through" the section in question to the other one.
