So my new pancake is eating fairly well on Zoo Med grassland tortoise food and romain lettuce. I know that this is a poor diet so I'm ready to add some variety to the food. Are there any greens in the spring mixes that should NOT be given as food? After spring mix I will continue to add to the diet with some weeds and grasses that the pancake already grazes on when we are outside. Thanks.

Most spring mixes have a lot of spinach. Spinach is fine once in a while, but not a lot and not every day. The best grocery store foods are endive and escarole. I also like collard greens, cilantro, watercress, carrot tops, and a few others too. Around the house look for mulberry, rose, grape and hibiscus leaves. If you want to grow your own, either in pots or in the ground, order up some "Testudo Mix" from tortoisesupply.com. Another great staple is new pads from spineless opuntia cactus.
