star tortoise not growing!

Ive had this star for about 8 months. I was told he was 3 months old. Got it free from a friend because it looked retarded so of course I took it and still after 8 months it still hasnt grown properly. Its growing from underneath instead of on top where the shell is. He can hardly walk because he's round in the shape of a ball so hes wibbly wobbly all over the place. He almost looks like he could just expode! I wish I knew how to put pics on here. I tried to explain it the best I could. Hes like the shape and size of a lemon lol. Does anyone know what could be possibly wrong with my little guy? He eats like a pig, I keep it dry, has UVB and proper heat. Oh...and poops alot I DON'T UNDERSTAND???

I dont know about star tortoise but.. u keep it dry?? how dry?? im sure they need some sort of moisture to help in proper shell growth?? maybe calcium? better lighting? its hard to say with out pics? or more detail of prev owners care and yours? it is odd that after 8 months no growth... PICS PLEASE and good luck i hope he grows!!!

The deformity is due to Poor Diet, Poor Calcium-Phosphorus ratio, Lack of Sunlight & Vitamin D3.
Please take care of the following:
Provide Nutritional Diet with Calcium. Do not overfeed.
Give proper Sunlight.
Plenty of Exercise, daily.
Humidity.
Consult your Vet. as soon as possible, if Vitamin D3 injections required.

I feed him a mixture of high calium greens, dandelion, collard, endive, escarole and supplement with Reptivite w/D3 and I also mix in shredded up timothy hay. I was spraying under his light fixture (for the first 7months) every am but then I read that Stars cant tolerate high humidity so I have been keeping it dry for a month or so. He has proper UVB so Im still not sure whats goin on.

I also have to note that he is in a 40 gallon breeder all to himself so he has tons of room to roam.

For now, feed your Tortoise once a day. Do not overfeed. Don't give too much.

I feel so far behind!! I have an iphone and I take pics on that but dont know how to get the pics off my iphone, into my computer and then onto tortoise forum. Not anybodys problem. This is tortoise forum, not help me "I'm retarded". I need to get someone over here that knows what their doing and show me lol. But thank you for trying!!! I appreciate it! Wish me luck! from your iphone you can send the pic to your self via email open the pic save it to you computer. viola you have it on your computer lol i know there is other ways but seems easier to understand that way from there to add your attachments browse your photos and attach.. good luck im sorry im not a whole lot of help.... good luck i would love to see pics
