Thermometer preference

What is the best way to measure enclosure temperatures? I bought an infared temp gun and a digital temp/humidity for inside. Just wondering on preference, not sure if the inside thermometer is necessary if I have a temp gun to check temperatures. Thanks in advance.

I'm a big fan of the temp guns... I like being able to spot check different parts of all of my enclosures.

Temp guns are good, and digital thermometers that record the high and low are good too. Like this:
