Topsoil and sand? And maybe coco husk?

What's your guys thoughts on this? I'm open to new suggestions on any substrate by the way! Thanks!

What kind of tortoise do you have? Regardless I'd say no to sand for any species. Its just irritates them and dries them out.

Topsoil is good and coco coir is good, you could mix a little sphagnum moss in as well. Most people dont use sand due to the fact that if the tortoises ingest it they can be impacted. Although I have mixed sand in and had no problems, but I made sure they didnt eat on the sand

For me, sand is an unneeded risk. It is not a matter of if ingested, but when ingested. I use a 50/50 by volume mix of organic top soil and organic peat moss.

Only mixed in small volume to loss up the topsoil. I don't like to use sand in general.
