Apparently s/he had to burrow right by the temp reader for the night.....

Question - the terrarium is starting to get puddles... The humidity has been sooo good, but the automatic mister is apparently making it too wet. I turned it off for the night in attempt to dry the substrate (Eco earth) some. Is that okay if just for a short time? Should I put more (deeper) substrate in?

Also, does anybody know much about plants from a garden center? I bought a jade plant and 2 pansy plants without thinking about the fact they've probably been fertilized and sprayed with pesticides. Will they ever be okay for my tort to eat (like after a certain amount of time) or no...?

I think the advice I have read with plants is to repot them in organic dirt or topsoil after washing the roots off good. Then wait a few months forall new growth.
I turn my fogger off at night so its not cold and wet, but that's all. Deeper substrate might help. Mine is deep and is top soil, coir, which both hold moister and then reptibark for drier top.

I didn't think about turning it off at night..... Hmm. Thank you for your input!

Ash, (hey look! New nickname) there's a timer box you can buy at Home Depot, it has an outlet plug and a place you plug in the mister. Its really cool and cheap. You just turn the dial and you're done until it dies.

Careful with constantly wet substrate. Red/yellow foots are prone to shell rot in prolonged wet conditions.

Tiff :))) - it's set to go off once an hour. I think I'll dial down how long it's supposed to spray at each hour. I think I had 30 seconds spray time but the humidity was staying above 80 which is why I kept it that way....

And I am always worried about shell rot which is why I'm trying to dry it out a little.... :/ I don't want the substrate soaking wet. Lol.
