Hi there,

It’s with great sadness that I have to rehome our families two Tortoises Marge and Margo, both Mediterranean Spur-thighs. We have owned them for almost 8 years after they were left in a box infront of our neighbours front door. Both show signs of having a poor start in life due to their shell conditions and their stunted growth but have made leaps and bounds after being provided with the correct lighting and supplementation. They are a male and female but are kept separately.

I am currently studying veterinary medicine (largely inspired by these two tortoises) and hope to specialise in exotics, but due to this I am unable to continue to give them the care they need and deserve. We are based in Brighton (UK) but are willing to travel depending on location.

I have also attached pictures of our tortoises.

Thanks a lot,

Ben

Such a shame especially if your going to study this topic you would be a perfect future owner for shelled warriors esp considering how long they live. Just thinking of ideas could they be adopted with family members or friends whilst you study and then you get reunited? Is there a animal sanctuary farm near by that could adopt temporarily?

Sadly not, my family is not really in a position to keep them while I’m away unfortunately. As far as animal sanctuary’s there doesn’t seem to be any near by that accept tortoises. They are still fairly small (about 6 inches in length) so couldn’t be kept with particularly large tortoises.

He Ben. I would absolutely love to offer your tortoises a home. I live in Tunbridge Wells. We have a nice fenced garden, two cats and a teenage boy who has been asking for a tortoise for a very long time! I haven't kept tortoises before but a friend has 5 and has offered to advise. Please let me know if you are still looking for a new home for them?
Thanks
Julia
