Here is a pic of this mix, grass free, growing. Obviously I seeded it too thickly (newbie tortoise seed planter ;) ), but I can harvest sections with scissors and they seem to keep growing. My smaller tort likes plowing through it and taking a bite here and there. She dug a burrow in the middle of it, which is why there is a broken pot placed there.
They love it.

Very cool. If you have space you could probably carefully cut a section or two out and transplant in another are of the yard as backup

That's a good idea. I think the roots are close to being established enough to cut out pieces.
After all, this is the Pacific NW, where a stick will grow if you plant it! :p

Really nice. Mine has grown good, but not that good. I think I have to much of other stuff growing in with mine, other weeds and grass, so it doesn't get as much sun as it probably should.

Terry, you should! Just spread them more thinly than I did, lol (more thinly than you would expect).

I always over seed my areas, to ensure perfect coverage. As of yet, none of my torts have complained... :p:p

I'll have to wait until fall, when I bring my 4 in...otherwise those plants haven't a snowball's chance in The Republic!

OTOH, by planting the seeds at that point, by the time my 4 move back outside, it'll be VERY lush, indeed!
