Ok so in ten days were getting either a tortoise table or tank. At first I was sure I wanted a tortoise table but now I'm not.

I'm having a terrible time keeping the humidity up and keep the basking spot at 90 at the same time. I'm using Eco earth loose coconut coir soil and forest floor cypress mulch, and the humidity is still making its way down to 20.

I think that If I get a 40 gallon tank and I get a lid (not screen) it will help with humidity. Does anyone have suggestions for bedding that helps with humidity, also any plants that I could buy to put in the habitat would be awesome.

Also any ideas for tortoise foods, I feed her greens every day but I always keep in some tortoise food, right now I have zoomed grassland food that you soak, she doesn't like it that much. Also should I keep replacing the tortoise food everyday or keep it?

Thanks for advice!

I personally use a covered Table, but I had to build it myself. I have plenty of room for walking and ramps for climbing and being enclosed, it keeps the heat and humidity in.

So, to answer you question... "YES" you definatelly need a TableTank!

This is true!

Nothing wrong with a tortoise table as long as you make it fully enclosed. I'm assuming this is for a young tortoise and that's why you want the high humidity??

If you went with a tank (I have a 40gallon with a screen lid) you want to cover the screen top on this as well to make it also fully enclosed.

I have a tank and a table and I find it easier to keep humidity with my 120 g tank than my enclosed table.

Well actually she is 10, but the humidity still needs to be at like 40-60 right?

10? as in years? is this a Russian or some other small tort? I don't think you have to worry about high heat/High humidity for any 10 year old that can fit inside a 40 gal. tank. IMHO

can you clarify what type of tortoise you have?

if it is a 10 year old russian, an open top is fine...

high humidity is typically desired for hatchlings and for redfoots

If its an adult russian, a 40 gallon tank isn't sufficient anyways....Go with a tortoise table. If you need humidity, it will have to be enclosed, but they can be custom built, or modified, easily, to have closed tops...
