I am still not straight on the total required UVB recommendations to prevent MBD.
If 1/2 hour of natural sunlight twice a week is adequate for UVB...should I stop using the indoor MV bulb during the time when there is access to the great outdoors?
It also gets very hot in our house during the heat of summer...and the MV bulb itself is very hot. If I have to raise it high enough to get it to the right temp at ground level I likely lose the UVB benefit entirely?
For uniform daytime lighting though (when she is indoors during working hours)... I can just exchange the MV bulb with a 40 or 60 watt incandescent (until it gets too cold again outside).
Yes? No?
