I have used pedialyte as well. It is an electrolyte solution that is made for human babies, particularly when they are dehydrated from diarrhea or vomiting.

I am giving some glucose in the soaks but not too much as im not sure if his kidneys can deal with it at the moment.

The funny thing is he is not dehydrated, strange as it may seem.
I just cannot get over how she did not notice something was wrong, the reason they call it a shell is because it's hard, so why in hells name did she not realize that it was spongy.
I need to ask her why she didn't realize but at the moment I'm too worked up,

She asked about him today and I snapped and said " oh so you do care then, because you haven't for the past eight months"

I know I can be a real ***** at times so I've been told and as a true Brit I am very sarcastic....

Unfortunately the little fella lost his fight for life in the early hours of this morning, it was to much to late... :(:(:(

Someone at work said " well she has just had a baby and she's having money problems"
That does not give her an excuse, I have 3 kids, lost count on torts,a dog, a horse and 3 cats, and I have money problems, but I I still get to check my animals plus looking after someone else's aswell..

Still he is better of where he is now,
I also found out that another lady that I gave a tort to killed the poor thing, she left it outside in a Vivarium in the sun,

That is it for me I am not putting anymore out for adoption..:(:(:(

I'm so sorry the tortoise lost his battle, Yvonne.

And as to the other thing? Don't let stuff like this get to you. Those people probably feel just terrible about cooking the tortoise. My daughter-in-law did the same thing with a bunch of baby box turtles. Its not a mean thing, its an ignorance thing. They probably had no idea how hot the glass aquarium would get. My d-i-l took months to get over her guilt/grief.

sorry the little guy is gone, but seems like there was nothing you could do.
I agree with Yvonne, there are probably so many torts that need good homes, and probably a lot of people who would do it right. I would not give up on adoptions yet, although a very discouraging time for you.

Truly sorry to hear this, Yvonne...you gave the little dude your best and likely bought him a few more days than he would've had, otherwise.

I'm sorry the lady waited until the little guy's fate was sealed before she brought him to you. If I move to sunny Spain you can adopt torts to me, Yvonne, because I will take the very best care of them. Don't give up on people, there are more good ones than bad.

I do give up because If this baby didnt get the needs he needed then what chance does a tort stand with an owner that doesn't know *****,

Sorry but I've had it, the one in the vivarium is the second one that she has had that has died from the same thing.

I dont care it if makes me bankrupt but I am not letting another "tort out of my sight, you cannot imagine how this has effected me, I am the sort of person that thinks I can save the world, and to have a baby die on me is heartbreaking es
Especially with my condition.

From now on I will send any tort to the protection society, I just can't do it any more. The torts I have I treat the same as my kids, I know a lot of people have things to say about that, but my animals depend on me for their wellbeing..

Yvonne, I'm so sorry to hear about this, and I know how you feel. In the Summer when I would find baby box turtles in my turtle garden, I would always give them away. With this new batch, if I find any eggs, I wouldn't give them away, because similar things happened to me. Hugs.........

It still haunts me that my old next door nieghbor left her son's Russian Tort in the sun until it died and that was three years ago. One of those things I just can't get out of my head so I can only imagine how sick, angry and hurt you feel. This is a very sad and awful thing to have happen. But you should take pride in all the animals you help. You are doing a wonderful thing.

Can't believe the lady did it to TWO torts in vivariums. You are right, it is too much!

I am so sorry, I popped on here to see the update and was surprised, I was hoping the little guy would make it with all the love and care he got from you! He was lucky to have you and you did a great job. {{{{{{Extra hugs}}}}}
