Hi all star tortoise mums and dads,

My 15month old Star is behaving in a weird manner today.
he seemed unhappy and kept shifting his hide, a plastic container and his water dish all over the place, making his home very untidy.
He is like protesting against something which i don't know is it.
he is eating and pooing well...
hhmmm......
but when i let him out in the open, he pace around my room pretty normally.
so anyone can give me a clue?

thanks.
worried pops.

Hi Ralph:

You're putting human emotions onto a tortoise. They don't get unhappy or resentful. Sounds to me as if he's just looking for a good place to hide. Is it possible that his habitat might be just a little bit too hot?

To be honest the only emotions I ever see from my torts are happiness when I give them their favorite treat.

It's fine, just let it be, it's trying to find a sweet spot

Yeah sure, they protect themselves from fear and hurt, but I wouldn't consider them emotional. They do display owner recognition, but that's about it. I think the only exception to this are the NA wood turtles.
