Let me start by saying this is not about Coil or compact bulbs, I use 18" tubes.

I have Peanut (2-3 Month old Sulcata) in a 40 gallon aquarium with an Infrared light for 24 hour heat, it has a dimmer. I also have an 18" Fluorescent tube fixture from a 10 gallon setup. I switched to a Reptisun 10 bulb in there, but it is pretty dull compared to the standard full spectrum light I had.

I know they need UVB and all but currently Peanut spends his days in a 3x5 converted sandbox outside, it's still 80 here in Houston.

So Peanut comes in for any rain or in the afternoons or if we aren't home and at night of course.

So my questions are:

Is the Reptisun 10 ok for this setup it's about 12"s from the substrate.

Do I need to use the Reptisun 10 since he's getting so much real sun.

and is it better for them to have a standard full spectrum aquarium light so they are getting a brighter light more like being outside.
