This is the Russian tortoise waterer. It is a lid off one of those garbage toters - the kind the truck lifts with a claw and dumps into the truck:

And yesterday as I was operating the strimmer in that yard, I discovered this under the waterer:

This is the Russian tortoise shelter. It's a half of one of those plastic dog kennels. I built a three-sided box around it and every time I mow I rake up the clippings and pile them onto the shelter.

And yesterday I discovered this:

Last fall they all (1.3) disappeared before I could gather them up, so they had to spend the winter outside. . . not the best option. But it's good to see at least two of them made it.
