weeds for maddie

This is a picture of a weed that Maddie LOVES. Even more than kale. she comes a runnin' for it. I think its some kind of thistle. it looks like bull thistle except the flowers on ours are yellow and not pink.

It has thorns. I have no idea how she eats it without getting the thorns stuck in her tongue. we let her try a bite of it because our horse loved it also. He would rip off giant hunks if he found a big one. we were amazed the thorns didn't hurt him either.

At any rate. We just collected a big bag from a neighbors lawn before a mowing. it is pesticide free. Maddie has had small doses of it about 4 times now.

does any one know of any foreseeable problems?
She is such a spoiled piggy now we have to find great things for her to eat.

Thanks for the tip but I am pretty certain that mine is not groundsel. the flowers are different before they open, the leaves are shaped slightly different and most of all the groundsel doesn't have the spines that our plant has. the spines or thorns are very noticeable on our weed and none of the pictures or descriptions of groundsel mention them.
