Came home to find this guy the other day. Probably 4 or so feet long the Black snakes usually bolt when seen but this guy never moved a muscle...even when I got close!

We like seeing them because of the number of Voles but yes, I do look around in the garage when my spidy senses alert me.

Is it a dangerous snake? I have one that is living in the back of my house under the rock. I am still adjusting for the country life and it was crazy when I saw some kind of poop on the rock (I don't have big animals), and it started to move under the rock. My oh my, I thought I was losing my mind. I couldn't believe I developed hallucinations before I turned 97yo😅 But then I realized that it was a snake. Such a relief.

Send a pic of your snake! It could be a black racer snake which are commonly confused for black rats! They are also harmless.

So here we are 3 weeks after seeing him for the 1st time.

Kerry has named the Black snake Bob since he seems to made himself part of the fam here. We've seen him several times since the 1st post. His territory seems to be around the perimeter of our home. I haven't seen evidence of a mouse the garage in 2 years so maybe that's him too. He's under the chair storage bin in the back yard now...i was hoping he'd stay out for a for a pic but he wasn't willing to wait. LOL
I noticed as he went under the bin that he was long and thin, no bumps so he probably has dinner on his mind. I hope he gets some.

rat snakes racer snakes and kingsnakes are all good species around the house because they eat rodents and some even eat venomous snakes.
