I just bought this sulcata tortoise. (Male) and I think he loves our yard but wanted to see how healthy he is. Been doing some research and see a lot of confusing misconceptions . Thought I’d see what other owners think.

Looks fine, check out the💩. If it is loose or just to make sure there are no parasites. Take a sample to the vet. You don’t necessarily need to bring the tort. If you do take your tort to the vet. Don't let them give any kind of shot. Not even vitamin shot.
Have you owned a sulcata before?

Could you add some more pictures, e.g. sides, back, top etc. ? At first glance, I'd say he looks healthy, with little sign of pyramiding.
ok will do just got home rn and hes in his burrow and already ate. ill try to get him out and take some. i do not feed him more than 2 strawberries a month if that. His only diet is cactus and romaine lettuce. I was more worried about his skin and eyes. from time to time his eye water when hes in his burrow digging and once i came home from work and seen him in the yard walking around and his face was covered in tears, i immediately got him washed off and with luke warm water cleaned him up.

Stay with this forum, instead of surfing the web or taking advice from pet stores. There is a lot of bad information out there. There are many very knowledgeable members here with the most current information. The white powder is urates. Sulcata's will recycle their urine to stay hydrated. The urates are protein that develop through that process. The urates need to be like tooth paste. If they are gritty or hard, your tort needs more water. Always have fresh water for him to drink. Does he get to graze on grass? Grass should be 80% of his diet. Maybe add mazuri tortoise diet to the menu. They make 2 types, 5m21 and LS. Most prefer the 5m21. You can get online but I get mine from the local feed and seed store.
I would suggest going to the homepage and either make a thread under Introductions or scroll down and find the Sulcata section and post a thread. You will get more eyes on your post. Sulcata's are known for watering eyes. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Check my content out on my page I posted more pics but I don’t know how to work this forum yet. Kinda confused on how to reply on the same thread or post on the same post it’s kinda hard on mobile devices I guess because my computer it works just fine

I asked Yvonne to move your post. It would be better if it had been posted under Introductions, General Discussion or under the Sulcata section. More members will see it there. Especially members who live in California. Will you keep him inside the house in a enclosure or outside in a enclosure. It would make a difference because the outside enclosure would need to be insulated and heat and light source. Sulcata's do not hibernate or brumate and need to stay at least 80°. They cannot live in their burrow all winter.
@Tom or @Yvonne G both live in California. By putting @ in front of their user name. They will see this post and hopefully will respond.
