His cool side is around 70 hot side around 85-90 I am wondering if maybe he is hiding when it is close to when his light normally shuts off and he goes to sleep.
Hi! Just a quick question. I have a RT and he likes to hide under his log a lot lately. We have had him for approx 4-5 months and he has just started doing this recently. It is starting to concern me. Should I be worried? Thanks!
Welcome from a fellow New Yorker! I live in Western New York near Buffalo though so I hear ya about the cold! We also have a Russian from Petsmart! Yours is very adorable and seems to be a lot more active than ours when we got him. Sounds like you are doing an awesome job! I also heard that...
Hi,
I am somewhat concerned about my temps in my russian tortoise enclosure...at night it ranges about 65-70 in the daytime under the heat lamp/uvb it ranges about 90-95 but sometimes the cool side could drop to about 63-65. I am concerned if this is not warm enough. If he is not warm enough...
Oh ok. I think he eats a little of the greens I give him but thats it. I am just really scared something bad will happen lol. I still blame myself for our guinea pig passing away even though she was properly taken care of so I am overly cautious for Frankie. I attached to him pretty quickly...
Oh ok...thats a good idea...thank you! I hope he starts eating soon...he hasnt eaten or drank much but I just got him like 4 days ago so I am hoping it is normal
Tortoises can eat timothy hay? I still have a ton left over from my guinea pig but I didnt know if it was safe for my russian.
Also, the grassland tortoise food does that need to be changed daily or just when it needs to be replenished like cat food?
Thanks!
We have a lot of hostas that grow in the summer and I was wondering if the leaves were ok to give to my russian tort? I haven't seen it on any list so I was just curious. Thanks in advance! :)
Thanks for your help! Yeah, I definitely fell in love that's for sure! He has been an awesome addition to our family. :) Good to know I am not over exercising him...I love to let him out and let him roam around and watch what he does. :) My son on the other hand gets so excited and can't leave...
