Hi I have a Russian too and had similar problems when I first got her. Over time and with help from forum I discovered she loves digging and burying herself and also that she is sooo inquisitive and generally enjoys exploring and being quite mischievous. She will turn her plants over walk away...
I just come across them online, have never seen anything like them before. They are brilliant although I think if have an enemy on my hands if I put her in one. I do like the Christmas ones though :)
Not sure if my little one would still be my chum if I put her in one of these but I enjoyed looking through them :)
Apologies of these have already been shared, just thought they were too sweet to pass by :)
Hi I live in Manchester and have a Russian a couple years older than yours.
I was having similar heat issues so bought a heat mat from eBay which was inexpensive and ceramic heat emitter (CHE) from tesco website, was around £15-£20. The CHE bulb produces heat without light so perfect for...

She currently has a bulb which isn't uvb (I think) and just provides heat which wasn't a problem before the winter set in as she spent majority of the time...
It's frustrating isn't it. I got Shelby in August from a pet store and didn't really know much about tortoises, just that I went in regularly and was always drawn to them. But I assumed she was a baby. The guy in the pet shop didn't really know all that much just about the care the shop had...
