I deliberately put a mirror in front of my tortoise, and he had no interest whatsoever. It was one if those convex mirrors women use for doing makeup.

I don't pack mine at all. It's a 50/50 mix of coconut coir and Scott's premium topsoil. It doesn't seem to stick to anything, and my tortoise loves digging in it.
I also let mine roam around, but usually only for about 15 minutes or so, and only if he's been under his heat lamp for an hour or so before. I watch him closely, to ensure he's not going to eat anything or get stuck, and let everyone know he's roaming around so more care is taken when walking...

A friend of mine told me the other day that retires in the wild will eat their old skin to help keep predators from finding them. Maybe poop eating is the same idea?
