They seem to find it comforting to dig up the plants and sleep under them.

I know tortoises aren't supposed to see mirrors and glass because they don't understand them, but when we first got our one we didn't think about our speakers, which had a concave mirrored surface on them, and so distorted the reflection a little bit. Of course our tortoise fancied a look, and poor thing! I hope he knows he doesn't really look like this:

I deliberately put a mirror in front of my tortoise, and he had no interest whatsoever. It was one if those convex mirrors women use for doing makeup.
