What can I put in my salcutas house please? As in on the floor. I know certain substrate is not good for them. Someone suggested dirt, but it is just way too dusty. What about some chopped hay? Certainly won’t hurt him if he eats it.
My Dozer has gained 5lbs since he came to us in July. Not measured him but he certainly looks bigger. He lives a life of luxury in a huge enclosure with an insulated heated house, with a heat pad. He’s fed once a day and is soaked in a warm bath twice he week. He’s friendly, sociable and...
The radiator has its own thermostat. The thermostat on the outside is only for the heat pad
My husbands dad is an electrician so my husband grew up being educated about electrics. It’s all safe 😊
We rescued Dozer on July 9th. He was in a bit of a sorry state and quite timid. I weighed him on July 22nd at 10.4lbs. Today he's 13.4lbs. He's very friendly, chases us down for food and loves shell scratches.
Hoping someone can tell me if that's a healthy weight gain please?
My husband made this. With a little help from me. ( told him what i wanted lol)
5x4ft, fully insulated, waterproof, thermostat controlled oil radiator and Kane heat mat. The lid is hinged for easy access. I have a door for it too to close him in.
It's currently holding the temp well at 82...

So help a dumb blonde out here.
If I set the temp probe up on the farthest wall and set the temp to, say 80. If the temp in the box drops below 80 the mat will turn on. With no rheostat it’ll heat to 37° above 80 or to its cut off point which you said is 108°. Is that not too hot if he’s on...
It’s a temporary box. (He came to us rather quickly, I had to take the poor thing, he was a sorry state). Insulated box will be ready by the time it gets cooler. And yes I fully expect to buy a bigger pad as he grows.
I’m terrified about the warnings on the heat pad. Don’t put anything on it...
