High prey drive dog and sulcata

We have 3 dogs and also have a Russian and a Sulcata. We socialized them quite a bit very supervised. We would bring them all in the house and sit together. Give treats together. Let the dogs know the torts are part of our family. The Russian is still small 5 lbs but the Sulcata is now 65 lbs...

    Backyard ground cover Not plant

Looking for advice on a safe outdoor ground cover that isn’t a plant of grass for a 4’ x 6’ section of a large yard that sits against my home. We have plenty of grazing grass, plants, large stones but needed to remove small pebbles as our Sulcata was eating them and now need to place with...

    Feeding Schedule & Amount

Hi All, My 4 year old 65 lb little gal is thriving here in SoCal. Just wondering what others are doing for a feeding schedule and amount for a Sulcata of this size/age. Right now we do every other day an amount the size of her shell. Dandelions, green leaf, romaine, are her favs. Just seems a...

    Tortoise House if Needed

It has a small hole drilled into the side for an electrical cord to plug in a radiant heat pad. It will take 2 people to move with an SUV or pick up. I put in on a dolly to move it around.

    Tortoise House if Needed

I made this fully insulated house about a year ago for my Sulcata and have just built a new larger house. If you’re in need of an outdoor house and can pick up in west LA let me know.

    Curious why she does this

My gal likes to rub her shell against the stiff box wood bushes and was wondering if there is a variable reason known for doing this. See attached. file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/41/01/7BDEEE9E-FA1D-4303-B12C-CEA328579330/IMG_3005.MOV

The (eventual) ease of owning a Russian!

Our little Russian, Miles, goes in and out as he pleases. The house is on a thermostat set to 78 degrees. It has a dark heat lamp and a heat pad attached to the thermostat. He also likes to burmate a little half body at best and sleep outside some nights when not too cold. He seems very happy...

The (eventual) ease of owning a Russian!

Looks Great. My Russian is around 20 yrs old and couldn’t be easier to care for. He has run of the yard and a nice heated house I built him. We live in So Cal and he doesn’t go into any hibernation protocol. Easy guy.

    Shell Flaking

Thank you for your quick response. I might not have mentioned that those marks have always been there prior to me adopting her. I thinkThey’re just flaking. The temperatures in her house are 8082 under direct and 72 on the opposite side of her house. I built it myself. Her substrate has been the...

    Shell Flaking

Hi all, I hope anyone in the west side of Southern California is safe and sound. Please see the picture below of my 10 year old Russian, which has always had some marks on her shell, but it seems to be flaking a bit more right now. She’s eating Pooping walking just fine. Spending a lot of time...

I’m wondering where I should put the thermometer to the thermostat now that the heater is in the center. The heat pad is...
