Tiny insects floating in water bowl

The last couple of days I've found patches of tiny floating insects in Cece's water bowl. Each time I've removed the water and thoroughly washed the bowl etc but at the moment it seems like they're going to keep returning. My main concern is whether they pose any risk to me tortoise. Can anyone...

New baby Hermann not eating much/at all

I've had a new baby Hermann for about two weeks now and she's never been that bothered by food or eaten that much and it's starting to concern me. In the morning she has a soak (which is when I put her food down) and she'll completely ignore it. She's very active though and spends all day...

    UVB for <1yr Hermann

Thank you, that is useful information. I think I'd prefer the flexibility of having a heat and uvb source separately if that's going to what's best for my little Hermann, Cece. With the strip bulb, will I need something to deflect the uvb down onto the table? Also, will it be okay mounted along...

    UVB for <1yr Hermann

I have concerns about my current set up for my little tort. Currently I'm using a 60W normal bulb for heat and a 26W 5% coiled UVB bulb which I now understand to cause eye damage and I'd hate for that to happen! Both bulbs are mounted on the side of the tortoise table with lamp clamps. I...

On his back in water bowl

It's sunken into her substrate and the sides are only about 1cm deep. I'm just not sure how she's flipping herself as she always ends up with her head facing the edge. I would assume that if she was flipping whilst getting out then she'd end up with her head facing the corner unless she manages...

On his back in water bowl

I'm in a similar situation to you. I have a new hatchling (my second) and she manages to flip herself over in her water bowl and it really worries me. My other tortoise is a year older and has never had this problem. The water bowl is sunken and I can't see how to prevent her from flipping...

Lost Hermann's tortoise, West Mids, UK

Still nothing. I know this is a long shot but before he escaped he was quite sleepy during the day when he was inside. Could he have hidden away and tried to hibernate, hence him not coming out in the sun?
