I don’t think that would be possible or fair on him, no, however I have once again downsized my bedroom in order to be able to keep him so I guess this thread is pointless now. 🥲
Breaks my heart to say this but I’m looking to rehome Thomas G Shellington :( we no longer have the space to keep him and downsizing his viv isn’t an option, it’d be too unfair on him.
He’s a (roughly 8 year old) Greek male.
I’m looking to rehome him to an experienced keeper and am willing...
Don’t disregard what anyone else has said because they’re far more experienced than I am, but my Greek clicks when he’s stressed — if I’m making too much noise is his viv, if I wake him up abruptly or if I’ve handled him too much, he’ll do the head bob/leg pump thing and make a clicking noise.
I’ve been checking the nightly temps every day before going to bed, and yes, I’ve had his CHE unplugged, COMPLETELY, for about a week now. 😁 Tonight will be the first time it’s going back on since then, considering there’s going to be a low of 13c.
Unfortunately Shellys outdoor enclosure is still a work in progress and won’t be finished for another couple of weeks! He’s only been allowed supervised outdoor time at the moment. I can’t wait until he’s able to be out there all day every day.
…my CHE is on a thermostat.
It’s getting too hot in there at the moment because of the heatwave we’re having right now, as mentioned in my original post.
We’ve been experiencing really hot weather here recently so Shelly’s CHE has been switched off as well as his doors left wide open during the night. This morning I went to check on him and low and behold… my cat was rather majestically snuggled up in one of the corners of the viv, orchid bark...
Today I’m going to a hardware store and going to start building the start of Shelly’s outdoor enclosure. It’s going to be 10ftx5ft and will end up looking like something in the picture below. I’m going to start just with a bottom board and planks for the side so he at least has something to go...
He’s not basking at all, but he will eat a couple of bites if I offer him food by hand. In fact I just took him out of the bath and he sniffed around his food bowl for the first time in weeks, but then turned right back around and stomped back off to bed.
Yes. He has a ‘jungle dawn LED’ light...
Studied them ten times over. He probably could do with a larger enclosure but I doubt he’d go from happy, active and exploring one day to totally dormant the next due to that. I’m really stuck on what’s wrong with him. Again today he’s awake but just sitting under his hide. :(
Shelly recently has become so inactive that it’s really starting to worry me. He’s a 4 year old Greek and I’ve had him for about 6/7 months. Usually he’s super active, awake with his lights at 5am, eats like a pig, bulldozes around his enclosure but for the past week all he’s been doing is...
Now the weather is finally warming up in England, I decided today was the day Shelly had his first trip into the garden!
Excuse my dogs lack of spacial awareness.
