Hi! Recently I bought the Broadleaf Testudo Mix from tortoisesupply.com and I love it! I would highly recommend buying it for your outdoor enclosure! It is very fast growing and looks great! Here are some pictures after 5 days!IMG_1526597975.768211.jpgIMG_0536.jpg

Looks pretty good! How high are the walls, not including the amount below the substrate?

Looking good. The sides look very low. If this is for a Russian he will climb out quickly. I would either add another board to the height of the walls or put a lip/hangover board on them.

Yes I agree! It is about 6 inches tall but I will add another block of wood for my tortoise!

I've got the exact same thing going on - just built the enclosure and planted the seeds - covered with burlap till they sprout & root well.

Wht a nice enclosure! But as others have said, the walls are low. Unless you have a juvenile tortoise, you definitely need higher walls. This is my adult Russian. She’s just a smidge over six inches. If this were a six-inch tall wall, rather than a gate, she’d be gone.

They can use their necks as a kind of limb, to pull their bodies up. So it’s not just the height of their legs, Add that extra height ASAP! :)

This looks so awesome! I’ve been looking into getting plants for my outdoor enclosure, I’ll have to give this a try!

And as others have mentioned-higher walls!!! My Russian escaped last year and I thought the walls were plenty high for him. I would say they need to be high enough that they can’t get their head up to it to see outside of their enclosure.

I got my tortoise back, someone at a neighbor’s yard sale saw a “rock” moving across another neighbor’s yard and I got my Walter back. He is never unsupervised now when outside.

I wanted to show you a video of my little escape artist, but I guess this pic of his climbing abilities will have to do!
