Hi all,
I have been caring for my Burmese star since he was around 3 months with the hopes he would be a male since i live in an apartment and space is limited to about 28 sq ft. He is now showing signs that he is actually a she at about 2 years old, 450 grams. And since the females can reach upwards of 12", I would feel terrible keeping her confined to that much space and would have a hard time feeding a tort that size through cold months as I am in Pennsylvania.
I wanted to get an idea of a plan started to re-home around Spring/Summer and seeing if anyone had recommendations on a great home because I have become pretty bonded with her and care a lot about her well-being. I don't want to just sell her to the first bidder and send her off. I want her to get the best life possible where she will stay long term, i.e. not just used for breeding then passed along to an unknown situation.
That being said, I think I am going to get an Indian Star next but would prefer one that is ideally as small as possible after showing clear signs of being a male so I don't end up back in this predicament. If there is anyone who has Indian Stars, please feel free to reach out!
I've attached some pictures of her.
