I'm pretty sure that the tortoise pictured in the ad isn't the tortoise listed on CL, just because I know that particular rescue doesn't charge $100 "rehoming" fees. They certainly don't post animals that have been placed with them on CL, they have a decently stringent adoption process. This...
I know. I'm hoping that the text on the photo with the copyright and the Tortoise rescue name means that's not the actual picture of THAT tortoise, but if they searched out a photo of a sulcata that looked like theirs to attach that means that their tortoise looks as bad as that one and that...

$200 for a "miniature russian tortoise" (that one sent me a Googlin') and set up, one of the easiest pets to maintain in their opinion, but one they don't have the time for. So, here's the ad for "Gracie" just in case anyone's interested.

From the posting:
Tommy the Tortoise- approximatley 5 years old Sulcata tortoise- with housing, lamps, and heat mat. $100 re-homing/adoption fee
I think as long as there's an option to turn off viewing signatures in the User CP (and there is), leave them alone with a no SPAM stipulation. While a lot of them are gigantic and make reading a thread annoying with repetitive pictures in signatures of users who post frequently, I guess as long...
I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago with my young tortoise, since he reacted favorably to a different statue I had inside his area. I've been watching him very carefully, seeing how he reacts to it. He hasn't bitten or climbed on my faux tortoise, but likes to spend a lot of time hanging...
I love (not really) this, because there's a shop in the area that houses a russian, a sulcata, and a redfoot all together. Their housing requirements are not the same! I can't visit that shop because every time I go in there I want to cry.
I do actually. I have a couple of him being held, for size comparison, but I also have a face shot (which is what I'm attaching). It's very recent.
Edit: I attached another picture to show the shell better too, just in case.
Thank you for your answer! It's definitely one of the Eastern subspecies. Measuring him now, he's just a hair under 4". Because I was shocked at how quickly he was outgrowing the palm of my hand (and because I'm a science nerd) I've been charting his weight and length since I got him, and it...
I'm positive. He's very regular (joy of joys), no parasites, and it was definitely a little boy-part. That's why I was so confused though, because he's so young.
So even though my tortoise is only about 10 months old, because he's almost 4", he may be sexually mature? Or at least ready to show what he's got? He's just started "flashing" this week and I'm a little bit nervous about this. I was prepared to not be able to tell what he was for a good year at...
I hope it's okay that I piggyback onto this question, because I'm not sure mine is important enough for its own thread. I have a hermann's that was hatched last January, received him in March, and this past week I've been noticing that he was getting up really high on his legs, but figured he...
Thanks Chad. That's what I wound up doing-- the salad, I mean-- because I had some extra. And just added a couple chunks of carrot. They all went for it, so I feel better about it now. :D
Since I have a question about superworms too, and there's this thread already open, I hope you don't mind if I ask my own question in your thread, drgnfly2265.
(I'm afraid it's a terribly stupid question that I already know the answer to, maybe...) I bought some superworms today because I'm...
I think as far as hygrometer's go, anything will work. I got mine for maybe 3 dollars at the pet store. Nothing fancy.
One humid hiding place is what a lot of people recommend, I'm blindly following that recommendation because I'm paranoid about screwing up my little guy. What I've got going on...
