    Flipping

What are you feeding? My experiences with flipping have been directly related to food. If I haven’t fed enough, or not enough calcium, or not enough vitamin supplements my little guy tries to climb the up walls to get out of his enclosure in “search of food”. When I see this I normally give him...

    New arrived baby! Beginner questions!

I would look for a different enclosure that is either plastic or wood. Tortoises don’t understand what glass is and get frustraited when they can’t walk through it. They can damage their faces and noses by trying to go through the glass.

    Update: transportation questions

Hi everyone, It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. Just wanted to let you know my little tort seems to be doing really well. Very active throughout the day, has a great appetite, and has grown significantly in the past few months. I have yet to take into a vet just to have his first...

I noticed this whitish area on the neck after soaking. It’s on both sides and roughly the same size. Any idea what this is?

    Just an update

Just an update this little one seems to be doing really well. I offer food everyday and most times he will eat everyday, other days he chooses to sleep all day. He is deficating regularly however I never see the white urates anymore when soaking. Not sure if that's something to be concerned...

    Weight loss

I'm no expert but I believe tortoises require a variety of all sorts of grasses and weeds. I don't believe an all pellet diet is good for them in the long run. Maybe if you experience colder temps during the winter and is difficult to feed you can try a 50/50 pellet and weed diet. I would rely...

Not exactly sure what SCL stands for but when I measured his shell from front to back he is 1.75". So he is very young or just very little for the age. Not sure. No papers of hatching dates or anything were provided from place I got him.

    Yearling Eastern Hermann's enclosure

Hi guys! Okay I've had my yearling for around three weeks now and some questions/concerns have come up. I have my basking temps set to around 95-100 degrees Fahrenheit. Cool side gets no colder than 72 degrees. I have a mixture of organic top soil, repti-bark (loves to burrow in this), and...

I do have about 2 to 3 inches of organic top soil underneath the chips. Not sure if I should just remove the wood chips? Are you talking about the reptibark or the cypruss mulch?
