We live in Arizona so no bulbs during the summer (still summer here, low about 70, high about 100). But that would make sense that he got too dry. We’ve had a dry monsoon season.
I have had my Sulcata tortoise for 1 1/2 months now. She is about 2 years old. Previously, she lived at my in laws, but they had only a very small space for her (aprox 5ftx2ft). She now is able to roam the backyard freely at my house, which she does on a daily basis.
At my in laws, she had a...
okay thanks! The sulcata is 2 years old, just got it from my in-laws. Definitely not a fan of being held, unlike my Russian who will completely come out of the shell when held. The sulcata actually peed as I was taking the photo
yeah we just got the sulcata from my in laws, it’s 2 years old. The Russian actually loves to be held and will be more out of his shell when being held. The sulcata is definitely not used to being held and actually peed as I was taking the photo!
his name is Kame! We thought he was a boy, but we just got a Sulcata who we checked and think is a girl, but we’re not positive for either. PS: don’t worry, they aren’t sharing space!

Good to know about the pool. The wire cover is mostly so my small dog doesn’t jump in! It also blocks where he can climb out. He can dig into the dirt, it’s just kind of hard and firm so he doesn’t.. I will try to expand his enclosure
He can a little. I have hay, dirt, and reptile bedding that is mixed up and piled in a corner. He often burrows in that. Yes I didn’t even see the active bleeding, just the dried blood
he has some cement stones on the ground and then the walls are made from cement. He got stuck climbing on the wall cus one of the bricks started to fall and trapped him (in an up and down position). So he had been using his claws against the cement bricks to try and escape, but instead it rubbed...
Hello, my tortoise lives in an outside enclosure. Sometime within the past 24 hours, he got stuck while climbing. When I went to feed him this evening, he had been trying to get unstuck for at least long enough to either rip his claws out/file them down flat. Most of his claws are no longer...
