I did move the light away from the substrate a bit. I had a hard time deciding on a good substrate so I just settled on aspen, but now I'm seeing that maybe it wasn't the best choice. I think I'll switch over to the cocoa coir next. Thanks for the help! Its about 92 degrees in there right now so...
My RTs heat bulb died and the replacement bulb I had for him is 150 watts. what should the temp in his enclosure be? I have Aspen bedding and I'm just concerned that it could catch on fire. I've poured water in his tank to keep it moist, but I just want to know this isn't too hot for him
I've read that you can't tell the age of your RT until it's about five years old but I am anxious to know and I was wondering what the best ways to tell are..
Is a spring mix with baby spinach added okay for my RT? I've read some things about spinach that make it sound like it's not the best choice. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks! I've attached some photos of my baby RT, Darwin (:
My tortoise, Darwin, comes out of his cave every morning and sits under his light for a couple minutes, then he will yawn and stretch and go get breakfast (:
I read that males tend to carry their tails off to the side, I have a young Russian tortoise who is not even a year yet so I too am waiting to figure out what it is! I also have read that you typically can't tell accurately until it's about 5 years old
I have a baby Russian tortoise and care for them is all new to me since I am a first time owner. I have read that weekly soaks and periodic mists are all that is needed. Is this true?
Thanks
