    Sexing by blood test?

Has anyone ever had their hatchling sulcatas sexed with a blood test? If so, how much did it cost? Thanks.

    Do their shells look ok?

I have that tin foil type tape over the top of the lid. But I think that holds in heat more then humidity. I'm going to get a fogger soon anyways, hopefully that'll help.

    Do their shells look ok?

I use coconut coir. I have to rewet it everyday. The bottom stays wet but the top drys out really quick.

    Do their shells look ok?

I'm not sure how old they are. They just lost the black spot under their shell where I assume their umbilical cord was. I spray their shells twice a day and soak them once a day for 20-30 minutes. Right now they're eating spring mix mixed with boc choi leaves, collard green leaves and kale...

    Weed Seeds

I've look everywhere. Everything is mostly grass mixes. My grass mix from sulcatafood.com has clover and dandelion in it, but that's all my baby's ate out of it, none of the grass. I found some sow thistle dandelion and chickweed seeds on eBay. Clovers are pretty easy to find. Other then that I...

    3D CAD Enclosure

If you get the time I've got an idea in mind. I'd want it 6ft long x 2-3ft wide and the height doesn't matter. It's fairly simple really. The bottom half of the cage I imagine being treated wood of some kind and the top half of the cage glass or plexiglass. This way they can't see out, but I can...

    How to increase humidity?

Lol it was the only way to give the plants uv and not have the tortoises destroy it all before it had a chance to grow. They seemed to eat all the clover and not really pay much attention to the grass though.

    How to increase humidity?

I don't think it has the original lid. It's not the sliding screen lid, it's a screen lid that fits on top and over the sides, but in the front there is a gap about 1-2" tall and all the way across.

    Inoculated clover seeds?

I final found a place in the US that sells clover seeds. Many of them have an option for "raw" seeds or "inoculated" seeds. But some of them only have the inoculated option. It says its just to Leo hold and draw in moisture to the seeds. Would these be safe to plant and feed to my sulcatas? Thanks.

    How to increase humidity?

Usually around 30%, but when I wet it about 70%. It doesn't stay that high for long, and even then I'd like it to be more around 80-85%. I think I may try a fogger or a monsoon rain maker. [hr] Forgot to ask, what are some good plants I can put in there. I have a tortoise seed mix growing in...

    How to increase humidity?

I have my two baby sulcatas in a 55gallon tank with a screen lid covered in tinfoil, with holes cut for the heat lamps, to help hold in heat. But it doesn't do much to hold in humidity. I have coco coir as substrate. I have to re wet the sort numerous times a day to keep any of the top layer...

What else can I add to their diet?

That organic herbal salad mix looks good. I'm just worried about them not eating the dry hay and grasses. I tried giving them some dry chopped Timothy hay with dried hibiscus petals and they wanted nothing to do with it. I tried mixing it with their other greens even an they found a way to eat...

What else can I add to their diet?

I currently have two young sulcatas. Right now I am feeding them spring mix, bok choi(sp?), collard greens, and kale. I also give them zoomed grassland tortoise food and immuno boost supplement every few days. I have a seed mix of different grasses growing at the moment that I bought from...

Where to find edible weed seeds?

Well I got the grass seed mix from tortoisefood.com but I'm looking more for weed seeds to have a larger variety. Grass seeds and edible flower seeds are pretty easy to find. I'll check out those websites though, thanks.

Where to find edible weed seeds?

I'm looking for a site where Ivan order seeds of common weeds like dandelion, chickweed, thistle, clover and what not. I found an awesome website with tons of options, but they don't ship to the US. Any help would be really appreciated.

    My two new sulcatas :)

[/quite]Very few hatchling tortoises are going to come ready to eat grass - even good, home-grown stuff. Spring mix and Mazuri is definitely an acceptable diet for torts this young - in fact, this can be their primary diet for most of the first year. Just make sure to soak the Mazuri and not...

    My two new sulcatas :)

Thanks everyone. Quick question. I bought some seed mix meant for tortoises from tortoisefood.com. While I wait for it to grow is it ok to feed them spring mix lettuce and mazuri? I also ordered 18 different seeds (weeds, flowers, grasses) that I'm still waiting to come in the mail.

    My two new sulcatas :)

I know it's not possible really to tell. That's why I said supposed to be male and female. The sex doesn't really matter to me anyways. I didn't even bother to ask how they were sexed.

    My two new sulcatas :)

These are my first sulcatas. Supposed to be a male and female. I did tons of research months before I got them. They are so cute. I'm already looking at plans to build a large shed for when they get big. First pic is the female, second is the male. Name suggestions? Was thinking fern or willow...
