I woke up this morning to my lil Hermann tortoise not moving...he's eyes are sunken in, and I know he has passed... I'm so sad, I feel like my heart just broke. He's been sick here and there, I've taken him to the vet and the vet said he was fine... Just to add more fiber in his diet, which I...
I do have mazuri and he isn't eating that either, although I will continue trying. I did give him a bath with baby carrot food in it, and he did finally drink a few sips! I'm happy about that, but hope he'll start actually eating soon, I've tried all his favorite foods, baby food carrot...
Thanks for the comments all. I took him to the vet, and he really had nothing to say other than adding more fiber to his diet (which I have been trying to do for the past 4 months but he's such a picky eater) any suggestions on other foods to give him?
Also the light is brand new, replaced it...
Please help, my lil' Razkal is not doing so good, I'm bringing him to the vet in a few min but wanted to hear any opinions.
for the last few weeks he has had problems pooping, he goes but not as frequent as he use to, and he strains alot to go. I have been soaking him daily for 20-30 min and...
My almost 2 year old herman tortoise is having troubles trying to poop for the last few weeks, not every time, but a few times I have seen him really straining to go and he is not pooping as frequently as he use to. I put him in a worm soak and that seems to help a little. I have tried giving...
Hi everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone knew what this weed is and if it's safe for a Herman's tortoise to eat? It's everywhere by my house and I just want to make sure it's ok for Razkal to be running around near it. Thanks!
So cute! I sometimes find my Hermann sleeping in the oddest places or weird positions. He likes to sleep almost vertical when he can. Here's a cute pic from about a year ago. He's in different substrate as this stuff turned out being detrimental to his health. He's happy and healthy now though! :-)
Here's a pic of Razkal I took yesterday. It was his first feeding in his new enclosure I built for him. Turned out great! He's been a big explorer all day [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]
Alright! Got the table built, sealed and aired out, and then it was time for the fun stuff...decorating and watching lil Razkal explore ;-) I think it turned out pretty good for my first tortoise table! In the process if growing some grass and clovers so I bought some wheat grass form the pet...
Here's Razkal!
he loves sleeping upright like this...what a goof [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]and let's not forget his buddy cosmic [WINKING FACE]
Can we see a pic of your 65 year old Hermann? I've never seen that old of one!
Also I think it never a hurts to soaks em, mine loves it and just rest his head on the side and takes a little a nap so I soak him often. As far as needing to because of the worms, I'm not sure. Good luck!
In the ordering list, thanks! Also I am going to order some clover to plant but there's a ton of different types...so same question, any specific type that's best or ones to stay away from?
I guess a better question would be, are there any grasses that I should avoid feeding him? Ill look for a prairie mixture, that sounds like a good idea, thanks!
Nice, thanks for the advice! I know this enclosure will be big enough for him for the next few years so hopefully after that Ill have a nice large outdoor enclosure for him. I'm also going to have part of this enclosure for growing weeds and grass for him so that'll take up some space.
Also...
What type of grass exactly. I'm trying to add this to my tortoises diet, but I want to make sure it's as good and nutritious for him as it can be. Any specific recommendations as to what type of grass to plant for him?
Good points everyone, thanks for the input,,,and yes Tom, Razkal is king so Ill let him bask in his glory for some years ;-) I would like in the future to have a few more of these amazing animals, but I think I will wait until Razkal is older so I can determine his sex and go from there. Maybe...
Thanks for the advise, I've gotta remember that they don't get lonely ;-) here's some pics of the in progress enclosure. It's curing and airing out at this point so I won't have a final pic with him in it all set up for a little whilethe last pic has him in front of it...he looks so small! He's...
