Hi all,
I have a 1 year old Spur Thighed tort who came to me in January. I am a newbie!

I was using an 80w Arcadia D3 combination bulb but this had given up today!
He has a heat lamp and lots of sun luckily during the day until a new bulb arrives but I though I would use this as an opportunity to re-think.

What do people think.... Go for a combination bulb again or go for 2 separate bulbs?
(I was thinking of going for a 100w combination this time)

Sheldon is in an in-door wooden enclosure during the night and on horrible days if that helps :)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thank you!

I think it also depends on how large your indoor enclosure is. The larger the enclosure, the more heat and light is needed.

Only you can really know how much heat and light you will need. Get a good digital thermometer and a temp gun is also a good buy. Test the different sections of the enclosure at different times of day and when the lights go out at night. Then you will know if you need more. Don't rely on those cheap luck like thermometer that the pet stores sell, they are very inaccurate.

He's currently in a 30x15 inch open top table. We are just about to start building a new one which will be a bit bigger for him.

We are in Devon, UK so he won't be able to get out in the sun all year round unfortunately :-(
