Was 10 F last night. And the ponds are holding their temps between 32-36F

I may have fell several times yesterday and this morning, but that's not important.😂

This ice is thick. Hope everyone is keeping safe.

Also, the tortoises brumation houses are at 36-40f the deeper you probe. I slipped, so this was my best reading 😂

the snow cover is a blessing, your ponds are hanging on to the ground temps, which are way higher than they would be without the snow, last year with no snow cover ground temps here were 15F colder......... ice is the absolute worst, ice= power outages, undrivable/unwalkable/downed trees ...... the storm was nothing here, powder snow..... looked like the closer you got to the southern side of this storm the more real it got...... i think your in for an even colder weekend.......

Definitely, but things start to warm up a little Monday.

Last year's winter was a nightmare with the ice storms. We lost power for days and miraculously the ponds didn't freeze solid.

Holy Moly! That's fricken cold...dang. Im a fairly hardy soul but those temps slow my roll pretty fast. I went out here yesterday and it was 29 degrees warmer than your temps. I fed the birds heavily enough that the deer can have some. I thought about retrieving my game cam card but I wasn't sure I wouldn't end up in the creek if i tried to go down the hill in the woods. I was outside less than an hour....it was brutal.

God bless and stay warm!

DD, my concrete pond at an old home was only 2 feet deep by 6' across. It froze solid some winters but the turtles or most of them survived. Pretty amazing...
