It’s not that uncommon to have “stuck” scutes in captivity. Not sure exactly why but seems more common in hatchlings that are started out dry for their first weeks of life.

Once stuck like this I have never seen them start growing normally again, but growth rings on the other scutes will grow more to compensate.
