The tortoise points to the Mazuri Original Tortoise Diet on the shelf. “How many bags?” the clerk asks, and the tortoise nods his head twice.
“Anything else?” asks the clerk, and the Gopher walks over to the Rep-Cal Calcium with Vitamin D3 section, and nods his head one time.
The clerk places the two bags of Mazuri and the one jar of Rep-Cal into a plastic bag and places the bag into the tortoise’s mouth. The clerk then takes money from a purse tied around the tortoise’s neck, and sees him out the door.
A customer, who was watching all of this in amazement, follows the Gopher to a house several blocks away, where he sees the tortoise ring the door bell to be let in.
As the owner opens the door, the customer gushes, “what a remarkable tortoise you have!”
“Remarkable?” snorts the owner, a long-standing TFO member. “This is the second time this week he has forgotten his keys!!!”
