Acorns

This time of year, acorns are falling from the trees and into water. They're a great source of protein for turtles reading themselves for brumation such as mud and musk turtles and snappers.

Thanks; I always prefer to hear this from someone with broad experience.

I wouldn’t have thought they’d eat acorns but as we say at our house, turtles do what they want. No cares as to what we think. :)
Best teachers about animals are animals. Sometimes watching them in the wild( if they aren't spooked and run like you have an axe) really gives you a good idea of their habitat, diet and behavior Like Tom Crutchfield says, "Just shut up and watch!" ?
