I just adopted a Sulcata from the Houston Reptile Rescue. They said this Sulcata is one and a half years old but I’m just not sure based on his or her size. Everything I have looked up says that they can differ in size a lot but even the smallest one year old Sulcatas look bigger then mine. I’m not sure about it’s back story but I would like to know what y’all think it’s age could be. I was also wondering about the sex of him or her so I could pick a name. If it is a year and a half old would I be able to tell yet? Is it also a strange color? Most are lighter. Thank you all

Hello and welcome.

When kept too dry, as most of them are, they tend to grow very slowly. Be aware that most of the care info you find for them is wrong. Its old, out-dated, based in incorrect assumptions of how they live in the wild, and its been repeated for decades.

Here is the correct care info:

You can't sex them until they are around 14".

Questions are welcome.
