Age and gender guess

Hi all, just wondering if anyone might be able to give me an idea of how old and what gender my tortoise might be. He's a russian tortoise that is currently 4.5 inches.

Your tortoise is a female.

Without knowing the hatch date it's impossible to know their age. Females grow up to 8-10", so she still has growing to do.

Since it is evidently old enough to tell gender, how old can I assume she is at least?

I’d guess 4-5 years and female. You can tell gender by the tail length. Males have much longer tails.

Thanks! I know torts will look female until they hit maturity. So that means mine has definitely reached maturity?

No. They usually don’t hit maturity until their like 8-10 years old. But usually you can tell males bc their tails start growing.
