Soo cute! Do those wooden posts keep him confined to one area?

I never knew you needed a permit for CB Galops in your own state. Cory, is this true?

Meg, the shell just looks clean and shiny to me. I don't see anything on it.

I'm pretty sure you need a CITES permit no matter what---

See how the edges of the bridge between the carapace and plastron are like, wavy? But the plastron is dusty and dry, as are his legs, but now that I look again--maybe he was recently wet. His face is dark too.

Ahh yes. Now I do see what you are talking about. You must have a bigger, better monitor than mine. I'm on my 10" lap top right now.

Never heard the permit thing before. I'll have to look into it.

For a Galapagos I'm almost 100% positive, since they are a threatened species (right?)---for Aldabs you don't need a permit though, huh?

You only need to get a permit from the United States Fish & Wildlife Service Office of Management Authority if you are buying from out of state.

you are 90% correct, buying, selling, OR transporting. Littlefoot cant even leave the state without a permit.

I do NOT have a USFWS Permit for her, and since I bought her in San Diego, and she wont leave the great state of California, I dont need a permit. And CA Fish and Game dont care, just as long as she isnt a Desert Tortoise, they could care less... those were their exact words on a phone I made to them before I got Littlefoot.

and by the way, the USFWS Permit is $300, and needs to be renewed yearly....

Do you ned a permit for each animal, or can an owner with a permit use it for more than 1 tort?

1 permit for all animals that are either for Galapagos and Radiated. The permit will list both species.

You would have to apply for both animals when you apply for your permit, and you can take your personal pets out of state without a permit I checked

no you cant. interstate transport is strictly prohibited without a permit from the USFWS for Galap or radiatated tortoises.

here is a part of an actual permit...
