It's found on shrubs and I was wondering if anyone recognizes what it is. The leaves are smooth and there is no discernible scent from these (like a scent from dandelions). Thanks in advance!

Looks like some sort of landscape shrub, but I'm at a loss.

It may be a type of laurel. If so it is toxic.
It might help if you can take a picture of this plant while still in the ground. The perspective (and location) might give us additional clues.
