Hey folks,

So I know for my Hermann's I need the Arcadia 12% and I do have that but I do need to replace the bulb. However I was thinking does it matter which wattage or in other words what length the light is? I know they have 3 different lengths.

Does it matter? I'm just not sure what to go with. Thanks!

The wattage and length of bulb is dependent upon each other:

The 12" bulb is 8 watts
The 22' bulb is 24 watts
The 34" bulb is 39 watts
The 46" bulb is 54 watts

IF you are replacing a bulb, be sure you have a HO T5 fixture and then get the bulb that is the correct length for your fixture.

Sorry yes I know that.

What I'm more asking is it more advantageous to have a bigger/longer light?

Not sure how everyone else does theirs, but I buy mine to be at least 1/2 the length of my enclosure. I like to have as much coverage as reasonably possible.

I like the fixture to be about 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the enclosure. No more than 1/2. I feel it is necessary to give the tortoise plenty of space to get away from the UVB. Also have some plants for shade gradient and some natural hiding spots.
