Are these bulbs considered harmful?

Coil UVB should more accurately be called Compact UVB. That is a compact UVB and it is harmful.

Tube fittings and MVB fittings are the only types considered safe

I figured it was. I just asked because these ones are not coiled. I didn't know if there was a difference.

Although this information hasn't been updated since 2009, I thought you might wish a link to get back on this whole issue. CFL is “compact fluorescent light" not “coil fluorescent light". Like tortoises and turtles, every coil light is a compact, but not every compact is a coil.

According to that article, it seems these zoo med ones were the biggest problems.

People are having problems with all of them. They have not been fixed as people are saying. Even the ones we use for our house lamps can be harmful to people. Do not use them.

I don't like MVB's personally. I have always used tube UVB flourescents combined with a heating bulb. The one time I tried MVB's (though admittedly this was probably a dozen years ago) I just had problems with them burning out. And yes, they were installed correctly....not at an angle, etc.
