Looks nice, living in california that is one thing I hate, no snappers allowed.

I just realized that I have an insane softness for alligator snapper hatchlings. I learn something everyday...

I absolutely love the way those guys look. Amazing designs. Wish we had the space for a huge tank for an adult!

Thank you friends. I named him flapjack for my favorite cartoon character.
He is gorgeous and his shell Is super light! Has not eaten for me yet.

What have you fed him? have you tried live food?

When I had a bullfrog, I almost never saw him eat. The fish would just mysteriously disappear in the night.

That little guy is almost cute enough to make it worth the effort to get back into aquatic animals and regret living in California.

Things are great in Michigan! Climate may be an issue when my sulcata is a giant, but the laws are nice.
Alot of Californians on here huh.
Seller said he was taking pellets.

I think there are a lot of Californians. I still like it. :) It's been in the 80s the past few days, and I can't have everything I think is cute or I'd run out of room (it may already be too late).

OHH what a cutie...my brother and I used to catch a baby snapper or two every spring and keep them in a kiddie pool for a few weeks before releasing them back into my grandpas lake (this was in MI :)). That lake is seriously full of snappers because my grandpa would pick up adults the size of trashcan lids that were in danger of becoming road kill and drive them home in the trunk. Luckily I think they're awesome and no one ever got chomped while swimming ;).

Back to your awesome guy, have you just put in the guppys or have you tried the pellets the seller was feeding, or cut up earth worms? We mostly fed ours worms and fish but if he's used to pellets it may take him a bit to catch on

young water turtles prefer live food. Sticks probably won't interest him for awhile.
