I'm new to this and this is actually my first post. I am concerned about my baby sulcatas shell. I see a line or ridge from head to tail. Also there appears to be "pitting" in the area close to the tail. Can someone tell me if this is normal or if I should be worried? Does my baby appear to be healthy?20181016_123058.jpeg20181016_123021.jpeg20181016_122800.jpeg20181016_122910.jpeg

Greetings...

I’m rather sure that what you are seeing and referring to is the backbone (exoskeleton) of your tortoise - perfectly normal.

  • The Vertebrals – a single line of scutes which run centrally from the head to the tail

Take a read here about endo and exoskeletons on torts.

Hope that helps...
