Indoor enclosure;
Under the basking lamp, should there be something, or just the substrate? I have a piece of slate but wonder if it may get too hot on the slate?

And should the hide/sleep bit be at the warmer or cooler end? Likewise the water dish.

Thanx again

I include light-colored rocks under my basking area. It helps keep them nice and toasty. I'd be worried about dark rocks getting too hot. Use a temp gun to check temperatures. :)

I include a hide at each end and in the middle. Your tort can choose where he wants to hang out, and be able to feel secure and regulate temps easily.
