Hi,

As per suggestions I tried to bump the basking spot to 90-95 and it went a little higher, to 97 so I raised the MVP a bit and I've got basking area around 92. At the cooler end, though, I'm registering 67 and 68. Not good. He won't go back there much. Heads that way and makes a sharp turn to the warmer side. Should I move the lamp so the basking spot is more in the middle of the enclosure? It's also darker on that side because of the way the lighting in my home is.

Thoughts?
Thanks.

I would add a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) to the cooler side. It's almost impossible to get away with only using one heat source.

Oh. I thought that the reason people liked mercury vapor lamps was because it covered heat and UV together. Ok. I will look into additional heating. Thanks!

The merc vapor do do both but it is not extending to your other end. A che is a good idea.

Is this why some people use desk lamps at the other ends? I'm trying to figure out what I can do until I can get the other one. Also, when I had the merc a little bit more toward the middle I was getting temps at 72 and 73 at that end. Is that good enough? And I'm not sure if my night temps are good or not. When I check in the mornings it about 72 or 73 at his burrow. Is that enough or do you all think he needs to be warmer?

Thanks! J

I think a baby should be warmer. A che is good for night and day heat too, so that's a bonus.

Everyone finds what works for them :) its only opinion that I think a baby should be no less then 80's at night. Especially if you have a higher humidity.
