I have 2 baby res, will be adding a map turtle and a southern painted one too. Its my first time trying out sand. Which is the best to use for them or should I go with river rocks? Its for a 75g being maintained by a fluval fx4. Will post pics later.

I personally do not like sand as a substrate for aquatics. I simply traps too much debris and no matter how much/often you clean you will start having issues with elevated nitrate levels. A bare bottom is easiest to maintain. When looks matters for an indoor tank, I use 1/2"-1" rock and siphon the bottom regularly.

Thanks, its the easiest choice. Makes the most sense. Gonna go with river rocks.
