Hello, I am a new turtle owner. I have 2 baby painted turtles and was wondering if anyone has any advice/tips on keeping them, raising them, etc.

owners of both turtles and tortoises have come to realize what an adventure owning these beautiful and gracious creatures can be.

Careful with the gravel they will get curious and swallow and heard some horror stories of turtles sinking and unable to swim from being full of stones and substrate. Just make sure the stones stay larger then there mouths :) I can tell you from experience i have sand in one aquarium and when I move them to an outdoor pond with a bare bottom its amazing how much sand they poo out! Cute setup BTW!

Crush did try to take a bite of a rock lol but I sifted them in a colander before I put them in to make sure there weren't any small enough to eat. All of the stones are bigger than the turtles head so it would certainly be a miracle if they managed to eat one. But thank you for the tip! I'll be sure to get bigger gravel when they get bigger.
